The White House is now denying that the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services is seeking to give grants to programs that hand out crack pipes to drug addicts.

The state-operated Ida sheltering program is coming to an end April 30. The program provided families impacted by Hurricane Ida with travel trailers.

Despite opposition from San Francisco officials, a program to provide free crack pipes to drug users has now distributed some 200 pipes since it began in March.

The Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness announced Friday that the Hurricane Ida sheltering program is ending later this month.
