Now that tinkering has finally come to fruition with [Phang]’s TraLog shield, a single Arduino shield that combines GPS tracking with a GSM and GPRS transceiver.

An Arduino is equipped with a piezo sensor to detect impact, and a GSM shield takes care of the texting. It’s an interesting concept, similar to requiring police officers to wear body cameras.

The device includes a GPS for tracking its position, an accelerometer for motion sensing, a GSM card for wireless communication, and an Arduino to control it all.
